Phoenix Zoo Horse Hands Sponsorship
Where Horse Dreams Begin
5R Outfitters proudly supports Phoenix Zoo Horse Hands
Every horse story has a beginning.
Sometimes it begins at a family ranch. Sometimes it begins in a lesson barn. And sometimes, it begins when a child reaches out to touch a horse for the very first time.
For our family, the journey began with a young girl named Rilee and a growing love for horses. Her experience with the Phoenix Zoo’s Horse Hands program helped turn curiosity into connection—and connection into a lasting passion for horsemanship.
That experience became part of the foundation of 5R Outfitters.
Today, we are proud to support Phoenix Zoo Horse Hands and help create opportunities for more children and families to discover what horses can teach us.
Confidence. Responsibility. Patience. Courage. Respect.
These are not simply riding skills. They are life skills.

More Than a Horseback Riding Program
Horse Hands is an educational horsemanship program offered at the Phoenix Zoo’s Thunderbirds Equine Facility.
The program introduces children, teens and adults to horses through age-appropriate instruction in horse safety, grooming, feeding, haltering, leading, stable care and horseback riding.
Participants do more than climb into a saddle.
They learn how to approach a horse safely. They learn that trust must be earned. They discover that caring for a horse requires consistency, awareness and responsibility. As their skills develop, so does their confidence.
For many participants, Horse Hands provides their first meaningful opportunity to experience the horse world.
And one opportunity can change the direction of a life.
Our Family’s Horse Hands Story
Before 5R Outfitters became a western lifestyle brand, it was a family following a horse dream.
Rilee’s participation in Horse Hands gave her an early place to learn, ask questions and become comfortable around horses. It helped build the foundation for a journey that would eventually include continued riding, training, competition and her own desire to teach horsemanship to others.
As Rilee grew, the vision behind 5R grew with her.
We began to understand that supporting horsemanship could mean more than creating western apparel and leather goods. It could also mean helping protect the places where horse dreams begin.
Our sponsorship of Phoenix Zoo Horse Hands is personal because we have seen what an introduction to horses can become.
A first grooming lesson can become a passion.
A first ride can become a source of confidence.
A child who is given an opportunity today may become the instructor, trainer, veterinarian, equine professional or lifelong horse owner of tomorrow.
How 5R Outfitters Supports Horse Hands
Our partnership is centered on expanding opportunity and strengthening the future of horsemanship.
Helping More Children Participate
Financial limitations should not be the reason a child never gets the chance to meet a horse.
5R Outfitters supports scholarship opportunities intended to help make Horse Hands experiences available to more children and families within the Phoenix community.
Supporting Qualified Horsemanship Instruction
Positive first experiences depend on knowledgeable, prepared and safety-focused instructors.
Our support includes instructor development and Certified Horsemanship Association certification opportunities that help strengthen the knowledge, consistency and safety behind youth horsemanship education.
Building the Next Generation of Horsemen and Horsewomen
Horsemanship is not simply about learning to ride.
It is learning to listen before asking. It is understanding that progress cannot always be rushed. It is accepting responsibility for the care and well-being of another living being.
These lessons can influence a young person long after the riding lesson has ended.
Keeping Horse Dreams Within Reach
The horse world can sometimes feel difficult to enter, especially for families who do not own horses or have access to a traditional barn.
Programs such as Horse Hands provide a welcoming first step.
They allow young people to experience horsemanship in a structured environment while giving families a better understanding of the commitment, work and rewards that come with horses.
“Horse dreams need a first doorway. For our family, Horse Hands helped open that door. Supporting the program is one way 5R Outfitters can help hold it open for the next child.”
— Andrew Raymond, Founder of 5R Outfitters
Why Youth Horsemanship Matters
Children are often drawn to the freedom and excitement of riding, but horses offer something deeper.
They teach us to regulate our emotions.
They require us to communicate clearly.
They remind us that leadership does not need to be loud.
They reward patience, consistency and calm hands.
They build confidence without removing humility.
These lessons reflect the values at the heart of 5R Outfitters: being Bold, Brave and Boundless while remaining grateful, grounded and willing to do the work.
Supporting youth horsemanship is not separate from our brand.
It is one of the reasons our brand exists.
A Western Brand With a Larger Purpose
5R Outfitters creates western lifestyle apparel, caps and leather goods inspired by the people who put in the early mornings, dusty afternoons and unseen work that horsemanship requires.
But our purpose extends beyond what we make.
We want 5R to represent a community where experienced horsemen and women, new riders, returning riders and children discovering horses for the first time all feel welcome.
When someone chooses 5R Outfitters, they are entering more than a store.
They are joining a family that believes the future of the western lifestyle depends on passing its knowledge, responsibility and traditions to the next generation.
Our support of Phoenix Zoo Horse Hands is one way we are helping that happen.

Help a Horse Dream Take Its First Step
A child does not need to own a horse to begin becoming a horseman or horsewoman.
They need an opportunity.
They need someone willing to teach them.
And they need a place where their interest can become experience.
We are proud to stand beside the Phoenix Zoo and its Horse Hands program as they introduce new generations to horses, horsemanship and the responsibility of caring for animals.
Because every accomplished rider was once a beginner.
Every lifelong passion once started with a first experience.
And every horse dream deserves somewhere to begin.
