5R Outfitters was built on more than western apparel and leather goods.

We were built from family, horses, and the belief that the western way of life teaches lessons that last far beyond the arena. Grit. Responsibility. Confidence. Patience. Respect. Work ethic. Courage.

Those values are why community support is part of who we are.

As 5R grows, our goal is to give back to the people, programs, and organizations helping keep horsemanship alive for the next generation — and helping more families experience the growth that happens around horses.

5R in the Community

Supporting the Phoenix Zoo Horse Hands Program

5R Outfitters is proud to support the Phoenix Zoo’s Horse Hands Summer Camp Program.

Horse Hands is an educational, interactive program at the Phoenix Zoo that connects participants with horses, horsemanship, equine caregiving, and horseback riding. The program is held at the Zoo’s Thunderbirds Equine Facility and gives students hands-on opportunities to learn about horse care, safe handling, riding, and the responsibility that comes with working around horses.

For us, this partnership matters because Horse Hands represents so much of what 5R stands for: youth development, confidence, responsibility, and respect for the horse.

Through our sponsorship, 5R Outfitters provided funding to help support:

  • Horse Hands Summer Camp scholarships

  • Access for youth participants who may not otherwise have the same opportunity

  • Instructor development through CHA certification support

  • Funds for instructors to obtain Certified Horsemanship Association instructor certifications

We believe supporting students is important.

We also believe supporting the instructors who lead, teach, guide, and protect those students is just as important.

By helping instructors pursue CHA certification, 5R is investing in safer, stronger, and more structured horsemanship education. Certified instruction helps create a better experience for the students, the horses, the families, and the program as a whole.

Why It Matters

Horsemanship teaches more than riding.

It teaches young people how to listen, lead, stay calm under pressure, care for another living being, and keep showing up even when something is difficult.

Those are the same values that shaped 5R Outfitters.

We want to support programs that help young riders and new horsemen build confidence, character, and connection through hands-on learning.

That is why 5R’s community work begins here.

We are proud to support programs that put kids near horses, help families find connection, and give instructors the tools they need to teach the right way.

Looking Ahead

The Phoenix Zoo Horse Hands sponsorship is one step in a larger mission.

As 5R grows, we plan to continue supporting youth horsemanship, adult horsemanship, western education, community programs, and organizations that align with the values this brand was built on.
